Celebrating Golden Girls Day!

The Golden Girls is a timeless TV show about the lives of four older women living together and getting into all kinds of trouble and heartache over the course of 7 whole seasons of laughter, tears, and love. The Golden Girls holds a special place in the heart of many, including us here at Clay County Senior Citizens. In fact, we give honor to them on our website with a weekly quote from the show just to bring some joy, comedy, or reminders to our life about how to cherish what time we have. The Golden Girls first aired on September 14th, 1985, which makes today Golden Girls Day! The Golden Girls have given us joy for 37 years, and they will give many future generations of people, young and old, that same joy for years to come. This is the first Golden Girls Day being celebrated after the passing of Betty White, who was the last living Golden Girl. Our hearts go out to our Golden Girls, but their legacy will always remind us of who we are and that there is never a point in life where you have to give up when you "feel too old." We remind our seniors that their lives are never over until they draw their last breath, and The Golden Girls embodies that sentiment. So, that is why we celebrate Golden Girls Day here at Clay County Senior Citizens. You can come up to the center and take a picture with the Golden Girls anytime! Stay Golden!
